(Photo by ESI)ESI organized an expert roundtable on financing energy efficiency in the manufacturing sector for Singapore government officials, held on 25 and 26 March 2019 at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and Energy Studies Institute. The event was an opportunity for dialogue among government officials, industry experts and academia. It was attended by officials from five different ministries and agencies, as well as key stakeholders from industry and financial institutions. The invited energy efficiency experts were from the Asia Clean Energy Partners, Asian Development Bank, Asian Development Bank Institute, Asia-Pacific ESCO Industry Alliance, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies, Copenhagen Centre for Energy Efficiency, National Development and Reform Commission of China, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Griffith University Australia, European Commission. This roundtable opened discussion on energy efficiency financing programmes and the market barriers that persist to impede access to energy efficiency finance in the manufacturing sector, to obtain recommendations for existing programme designs, and identify next steps toward the design and implementation of new government and private sector interventions. The information and feedback drawn from this roundtable will then inform specifically the “Promoting Energy Efficiency for the Manufacturing Sector in Singapore – Outlook for Economic Instruments and Energy Services Market” study – being undertaken by ESI.(Posted on 27 March 2019)
